With their first two released tracks landing on independent compilation album “A Voice in the Dark” alongside Dutch indiepop duo Anderson, the members of
Five Star Streets showed their true colours. The lyrics, melodies, arrangements and the aim of the compilation album worked together to form a passionate effort to bring positive change to issues of trafficking, injustice and slavery that are currently happening in frequency all over the world.
With album in hand, this Australia-based indie-rock band embarked on their first USA/Canada tour in July 2007, playing to thousands across the continent. Producers from Launchpad productions were pleased to record 5SS’s live show in Denver containing many of the band’s early, unreleased tracks.
2008 was a year of reflection and a refinement of purpose for the members of Five Star Streets, yet 2009 has found them back in the studio working on their new record, which will be released on their second North America tour later in the year. New tracks like “Let Justice Sing” and “Where She Lives” embody the passion and characteristic of the band’s early tunes, yet offer a maturity of composition and worldview not yet tasted by fans of 5SS. Energetic and unique drumming, driving bass guitar, melodic electric guitar – driven and delayed, and a swell of orchestral arrangements provide a platform from which passionate, poetic and socially aware lyrics soar on melodies – both gentle and intense.
Again, producers from Launchpad Productions in Denver, Colorado will be flying into Australia to co-produce the record with 5SS front man Mike Murray.
Comprised of Mike Murray (Guitar and Vocals), BJ Magee (Drums), Dan Eason (Bass), David Fairfield (Keys and Programming).
