Exploding out of the ever-vibrant music community of Canada’s West Coast
is the Vancouver quintet
Goodbye Beatdown – here to move the millions
with their grinding lightning groove.
Melding the best dance-floor elements of roots-rock, reggae, electric
blues, funk, soul, and urban hip-hop into a modern boogie mélange they
recall the energy of Sublime and the Red Hot Chili Peppers while
maintaining a sound and image all their own. Goodbye Beatdown’s true
powers have been the unending series of overheated, sweat-drenched
capacity crowds they’ve captivated at Vancouver’s most prestigious
venues – including the acclaimed Commodore Ballroom and sadly missed
Richard’s on Richards. They’ve shared stages with such seemingly
disparate notables as Bif Naked, Default, Finger Eleven and Sean
Kingston and have more than held their own- winning every crowd, every
time.
No matter where they’re gigging – the Canadian Prairies, Toronto,
California – it’s scorching high noon in mid-July, both in attitude and
in sheer sonic sweat-out.
Hailing from Burlington, Ontario
Walk Off the Earth are comprised of 3
members, all with extensive backgrounds in the Canadian music scene -
usually behind the scenes as writers or producers. In two short years,
the band sold over 2000 CD’s through their own label, SlapDash Records
while sharing the stage with noteworthy outfits like Bedouin Soundclash,
K-OS, Ill Scarlett, The Johnstones, and many more! Their sophomore
album, ‘My Rock’, is due in 2009 and will take off where their charming
reggae-rock debut Smooth Like Stone on a Beach took off! Taking cues
from legends before them like; The Clash and The Police - it’s just a
matter of time before we’re all humming their infectious melodies down
the street on the way to work! Walk Off the Earth will join Warped Tour
this year for a few dates and tour their new release. Expect to hear
more from these cats.
poor little rich girl.
it's been described as a hierarchical system of monkies, a movie
starring little orphan annie, edie sedgwick, or simply: us.
poor little rich girl like all bands comes from humble beginnings, and
humble garages. we built a jam space in our garage, recruited a bass
player after 1 year without one, and got serious. 1 year, 2 EP's later,
and countless shows, friends and stages, poor little rich girl is the
following:
cam lutz: drums & percussion [he's also in charge of business,
because he's the responsible one]
rob raybould: bass & ladykilling [if you've seen us live, you know
what "rob raybould's wireless" means. if you haven't seen us play yet,
you'll never forget after]
cory myraas: vocals & rhythm guitar [the glasses and the hair,
that's all that needs to be said. maybe dance moves, watch out]
and our newest member, luke arnold: lead guitar & and overall
awesomeness [the dose of excitement and enthusiasm that plrg much
needed. his lead lines are also phenomenal]
