We live in an age of misunderstanding. Music is chained to the image of its creators, and ninja are commonly perceived as heartless human weapons whose skills, like those of artists, are cheaply bought and sold. In most music, there is a deviation from real human connection. In life, there is an imaginary division of mind, body and spirit. True freedom of expression is strangled by social choke holds imposed by tides of opinion. To survive this one must adapt, evolve and re-connect themselves to their human nature. One must reunite music with dancing, mind with body and thought with action. One must become each moment, invisible yet vivid. Become nothing, immune to judgment. In correlation with a commitment to real, reciprocal human connection and zero-ego, high-energy, free-expression dance pits, support for the way of the Ninjaspy grows each time we have the honor of sharing our crafts with others. In the world of Ninjaspy, “the skank” can be defined as the negativity inside each one of us that inhibits us from feeling free to love and express ourselves. To survive we must throw the skank down until we die.

Here to usher in a new wave of Canadian heavy metal is Vancouver band Flood of Fire. Whether or not you are a fan of heavy music, after seeing their unrivaled live show you too will be a believer with all the rest. The band formed in the spring of 2005, and solidified its lineup in the fall of 2006. Their overall goal was set to bring the influence of metal back into the stale state of popular rock in the current music scene. Their live performances are packed with power, energy, and passion, as all four members share the spotlight while displaying their true abilities as musicians and entertainers.

With their second release, a four song EP entitled “A Night to Die For”, Flood of Fire has taken another gigantic step forward with their dynamic song writing skills. Extended breakdowns, dueling guitar solos, soaring melodies, and of course killer riffs are all present in this brief but intense collection of songs that will leave you wanting more. The band has matured, and continues to develop their worldly influence and style.

Skull Hammer was forged from the fires of Kelowna, B.C. in 2003 as a thrash metal power group. Originally consisting of 5 members it featured, Chase Thibodeau on bass, Rene Wilkinson on guitar, Jerome Brewer on drums, Sean on guitar and Richard on vocals.

After gaining a reputable fan base from their electrifying and high energy live performances, Skull Hammer was forced to undergo a line-up change. In 2005 Richard and Sean parted ways with the rest of the band. Shortly thereafter, Chase Thibodaux assumed vocal duties and the band recruited guitarist Brent Gallant (former Metal Storm lead guitarist) to solidify the line-up of Skull Hammer.

Since then, Skull Hammer has been a force to be reckoned with in the B.C. metal community. Supporting the metal legend Thor at the Northwest Metal Festival in Vancouver, Along with playing at several venues in Kelowna, Skull Hammer has also gained much respect and legions of new fans from live shows in Kamloops, Victoria, Nanaimo and Vancouver.

With a new demo featuring the completed line-up, and a strengthened resolve after a recent successful west coast tour, Skull Hammer plans to continue to bring their brand of technical Power/thrash metal to the masses. They are determined to leave their mark everywhere they play, leaving their audiences exhausted, excited, and chanting two words...Skull Hammer.
