I was driving to a friends house earlier tonight when I threw a random playlist from my iPod on. I don't know if you have the same experiences shuffling music as I do but sometimes the songs aren't that great and don't seem to flow, and sometimes it's like my iPod can read my mind. The music was consecutively good and, as I drove, I thought about the last time I even wrote a listed music post (
who's even counting?).
It got me to thinking maybe I'd post the first 10 random songs my iPod plays, I'm kinda hoping you might post some back. A top-10-you-sorta-hafta-live-with-whether-you-want-to-or-not deal, maybe we can share some music and make some
big sound.
- Fear of Tigers - Friday Night at Geek Club
- This was a good start, I only just got this album the other day though someone recommended it to me a while back. Best part, Fear of Tigers themselves put the whole album up for a free download off megaupload.
- Kris Menace & Fred Falke - Enamoured
- Sort of works with the first track, a bit housey but both make me long for summer months. I have a weird association with the Kris Menace triple CD release from last year. A bunch of us were camping out by Merritt, BC right before the West Kelowna fires started last year and long story short, trapped, it took me 7½ hours to get home as tracks from this album kept coming on. Solid release if you're into this genre.
- TOBACCO - Little Pink Riding Hood
- The album "Fucked Up Friends" was recommended to me by iTunes and an impulse buy. Luckily I've fallen in love with this album. I hear this is a solo project by someone in Black Moth Super Rainbow which is another band I guess have to check out.
- Tiga - Beep Beep Beep
- Tiga is classy, sultry and a little bit decadent for electronic music... this was a happy surprise.
- The Raveonettes - Twilight
- I love The Raveonettes and I have most of the old Twilight Zone episodes from the 1950's/60's, so while this may not be my favourite song of theirs, it's definitely not their worst.
- Wave Machines - Over and Over
- Don't know what to say about Wave Machines other than I love this whole album.
- Penguin Prison - Animal Animal
- Okay, this one was kind of a lie and I'm already breaking my own rules about sticking to the 10... this was actually the Penguin Prison remix of 'I Am Not a Robot' by Marina & The Diamonds. Marina—who by the way is fantastic—originals are great and in some cases the remixes take away from the song. I even meant to delete this particular one and thought I had… anyway, a Penguin Prison original like 'Animal Animal' would also have been an acceptable answer in this spot.
- Bombay Bicycle Club - Dust On the Ground
- Refer to Wave Machines write up.
- We Have Band - Time After Time
- Brought to my attention thanks to the hard work from everyone at Kitsuné Maison.
- Neon Indian - Terminally Chill
- Neon Indian. If you haven't already heard of them, you really should have already heard of them.
