Music BC Charitable Foundation “Adopt an Instrument Program” donates 30 Epiphone acoustic guitars to Springvalley Middle School from sale proceeds of Gibson Les Paul guitar signed by Neil Young.

On April 7, 2010, Gibson endorsed artists and EMI recording artists One More Girl will officially present 30 acoustic guitars to Springvalley Middle school in Kelowna, B.C on behalf of the Music BC Charitable Foundation. One More Girl will also make a special and private performance and talk to the aspiring music students at the school.

Springvalley Middle School is located in Kelowna, BC. The school teaches  520 students from grades 7 to 9. Ken Woodward, a teacher at the school, started a guitar club with another teacher 4 years ago. Since that time the club has grown and a lot of students have joined in. All kids are welcome at all levels. Ken states “having the guitars in the library available to the kids all the time is a very positive thing for the school. It will hopefully inspire an interest in music for the kids. With luck a few will keep going with it.”

Bob D’Eith, Executive Director of Music BC says “Music is important in schools. Music helps to keep our children focused. Many students stay in school because of music programs.” D’Eith goes on to say, “unfortunately, music programs are being cut all over the province. Music BC is doing its part to help keep these programs alive, one school at a time”.

Music BC would like to acknowledge the generous support of Gibson and Epiphone guitars. Gibson donated the Les Paul that was sold to pay for the new guitars and also donated 10 of the 30 Epiphone guitars.
