Mini Mansions are a three-piece psych pop band from Los Angeles (w/ Michael Shuman from Queens of the Stone Age), who serve a mix of baroque-pop requiems, Motown eulogies, and Mersey-era break beats.  Let's just say it's like The Zombies playing at ODB's funeral. The Greff Band is classic roots rock raised on the Canadian plains. Minto is a five piece folky, rock and roll band from Vancouver.

June 30th, 2010 - Kate Miller-Heidke

Fearless. That was the word that kept coming up when Australian singer/songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke was dreaming up her sophomore record (and US debut) Curiouser. Fun was another one. The fact that she dared to dream either while her 2007 Australian debut Little Eve was still ringing loud and clear suggests a couple more F-words. Forward. And Fast. Jody Glenham is a Canadian songwriter/singer and pianist. With two self-released albums behind her and a "Best of Vancouver 2009" accolade bestowed by The Georgia Straight; combined with growing exposure through local reviews and blogs (Discorder, The Indiefiles, CBC Radio 3), Jody Glenham is rapidly entering “can’t miss” artist territory.

From somewhere beneath the swelling strings and synths, the angular guitars and pulsating beats, cleaves the voice of Jamie Fooks of Jane Vain. In early 2003, Fooks started writing songs by her self in her basement apartment, to deal with the remaining demons of a reckless adolescence.Valleys are an amazing revelation—a band that makes me imagine what it might have been like to see The Swans back in their heyday, if you replaced Michael Gira with a ethereal young female with a deceptive, awesome power.

Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm

The Zolas' debut album 'Tic Toc Tic' mixes infectious indie-pop songs with hairpin turns, schizoid piano throwdowns, and a sort of cabaret strut. This prog-pop treasure chest is equal parts catchy and cryptic; it's like Justin Timberlake meets The Beatles, or maybe Coldplay meets The Clash.

June 9th, 2010 - An Horse

w/ Fields of Green
$12 (+ $1.50 tx & sc) - Buy your tickets for this show here!
Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm

It is not because Kate is the size of jockey or because Damon was once kicked by a goat that An Horse bears its name. There’s no sense in that. A friend once gave Kate a sweater with An Horse written on it because he thought it was grammatically correct. It wasn’t and that was quite a long time ago but Kate still wears the sweater. She hasn’t grown in years. Damon still remembers the goat like it was yesterday. In the beginning, there was Fields of Green. Okay, that’s not completely true. In reality, this dynamic foursome from Kelowna, BC has only been around since 2008, but they’ve been breaking ground quickly ever since, trampling the expectations of slouching teenagers and erect professionals alike while shattering pre-existing notions of brilliance underfoot.
